Justice, Support & Commemoration.

Our mission is to support bereaved families and to help create a meaningful commemoration event and memorial in Wales. We are also here to bring about lasting change for people across Wales.

Covid Bereaved Families for Justice Cymru is a non-partisan group of Welsh families seeking truth, accountability, and learning from the Covid-19 pandemic. Many of the most serious harms in Wales — including infections in hospitals and care homes — were avoidable and stemmed from failures in preparedness, governance, and decision-making. The UK Inquiry was not designed to properly examine devolved Welsh systems, leaving vital questions unanswered. A Wales-specific statutory public inquiry is essential not only for bereaved families, but for everyone in Wales — to restore trust, strengthen public services, and ensure we are better protected when the next crisis comes.

Families United

Through lived experience and years of engagement as core participants with the UK Covid Inquiry, we have become the sole Welsh voice consistently seeking scrutiny, answers, and change. We believe that many of the gravest failures in Wales — including infections and deaths in hospitals and care homes — were not inevitable, but the result of poor preparedness, weak governance, and a lack of accountability in devolved decision-making. We stated at the outset that the UK Inquiry was insufficient for Wales, and six years later, we can now prove it.

We are a compassionate and understanding group of bereaved families in Wales, here to listen and to support you. Please share your experience with us if and when you feel ready.

What We Stand For

This section will shortly be updated with our detailed proposals. Wales does not need to replicate the UK Covid Inquiry. Instead, we can establish a short, focused, and more economical Wales Covid Inquiry that uses the pandemic as a catalyst to transform governance, strengthen accountability, and better protect and support the people of Wales in the future.
